Good book alert

Over the past week I have been making the dreaded curtains (now finished, hung, and looking very nice!) and mugging up on my scuba diving skills for a course I attended last weekend. Between all that I was able to spend time enjoying ‘Horrockses Fashions Off-the-peg Style in the 40s and 50s’  by Christine Boydell (V&A Publishing) which I found in my local library. Even if you didn’t read a single word the book is a joy just to look at the fabulous dresses from the period. There are so many incarnations of this style being shown in magazines at present it is nice to see the originals. Sadly I am the wrong shape to look good in the full skirted dresses but I still love them.

I haven’t done any of the sewing I have planned for myself yet, but tomorrow is going to be spent tracing from Patrones and getting all the goodies together.
