Next!

Well not too long this time!

I’m not entirely convinced I should be wearing these but that’s tough. I finally got round to making a pair of Greenstyle Moxi shorts and I love them. They might not be considered correct attire for a lady of my vintage but they will be great gardening attire – and if I’m feeling particularly brave I may even wear them to run.

I’ve had the pattern for ages so I’m happy to have finally made use of it. These were a trial pair made in scrap leftovers from a dress made in my gap (if I get a photo I’ll share it) and binding made from cotton scrap. All in all a completely scrappy project. I slightly regret not taking more time and putting the pocket into the back yoke as they have turned out so well.

Pictures taken on my Kindle with a timer I’ve just discovered. Tell me what you think.

I have already found more fabric to make another pair and a pair of leggings too. Too much orIMG_20190709_150515 a brilliant pattern? One thing is sure  ….. I will be easy to spot 😂

  1. I’ve made some of these for both me and for Dawnie…and neither of us have worn them yet. They just don’t sit right on my weird body, maybe I picked the wrong size? It’s a cool pattern though, with interesting styling, yours look great- go on, wear ’em and startle the natives!

I made a smaller size than I would usually as it was in a pretty stretchy fabric and I’m very happy. I may well just startle the natives …. and probably frighten the horses 😂

      • I blended between sizes but they still ended up being rather gappy round the legs and with the curved seams it all seemed a bit daunting to remake…so they are just one more thing that will probably never be finished. My actual need for shorts is nil! [Although I dream of having a couple of pairs for those rare very hot summer days…still to find a style that works for me]

Gorgeous shorts, wear them with pride

  3. Karey says:

They look great. I’m thinking they’d also be good as swimming bottoms. One of the privileges of reaching a mature vintage is that we can do what we bl**dy well like 🤩

    • Kim says:

Too right! The Management didn’t look too certain about them but given how he looks in shorts I decided he didn’t deserve an opinion 😂

  4. CurlsnSkirls says:

Yes, wear them with pride, and make more!

Looks like you’re enjoying some warm weather Kim? I had a pair of shorts like this in my youth, touch football I think. I didn’t love the shape but can see why one needs this kind of thing for running – there’s good freedom of movement there. Looks like you’re on a blogging roll, perhaps it’s catching?!

    • Kim says:

They are definitely sports shorts rather than ‘smart’ shorts but are very comfortable, and being stretchy makes them easy to move and bend in (surprisingly they stay decent when I bend over 😁).
Yes, blogging more frequently – but only because I’m actually sewing again. Loads of plans using my stash so hopefully it will continue.

  6. They look beautifully made and entirely appropriate!

    • Kim says:

Thanks Catherine. Since they were flung together and I’m not exactly in the flush of youth that’s a very kind comment 😘

  7. Roxane says:

I think they are cute, and you can’t argue with a project made entirely from scraps. And they WILL be great for gardening and running!

  8. I’ve recently made myself some blue leggings to go with some loud bold print t shirts I have made. I think we are looking great for ladies of our “vintage”. Wine only gets better with age. Love the shorts with the stripe of colour and I want to see you in leggings next!

  9. Mike Eaton says:

Very nice, the shorts aren’t bad either!

  10. CJ says:

    Ooooh loving the pattern!!!!

  11. CJ says:

    Ps I need a running skirt 😉

    • Kim says:

I’ve seen this pattern hacked into a skirt but I’ve never considered running in a skirt. ….

      • CJ says:

I like to wear one over my leggings just cos I don’t like my nunu out there 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I don’t run in shirts omg my legs out there would scare the critters on the trail!!!! 🙈

  12. Fadanista says:

well I think you should definitely be running in them! They are perfect!

  13. Beads and Barnacles says:

Ooh the shorts look great. Lovely style lines
