Express lane socks

I scored a lovely ball of Paintbox yarn at a charity shop on a recent stay in Malvern. This was in a basket of mixed balls but clearly hadn’t been opened/used and at Β£2 seemed like a good buy.
I’m absolutely committed to knitting toe up socks as my grafting skills leave much to be desired! Being a bit lazy I decided to use my usual Lacery sock pattern but transfer the lace section from Express Lane to the pattern. Both patterns are free on Ravelry, and though I chose to use my familiar pattern I can’t see any difficulties with the other.
The lace pattern was sufficient to maintain an interest, but not so complicated that it wasn’t easy to memorise. I’m really happy with these socks, although the pattern may be more obvious if I’d used a plain rather than tweedy yarn.
My sock drawer is looking pretty healthy now but I can’t see a time when a new pair won’t be welcomed π.
kniting schmitting lol cute socks!
Wow, gorgeous Kim. I think knitting is making my hands sore. Not embracing this ageing malarkey actually. X
I feel your pain. My hands are looking a bit wonky now.
I’ve made a few pairs of socks and love them but it doesn’t come naturally to me, if you know what I mean. Your tweedy pair look great and look really cosy.
Perfect for UK weather – even most of the summer π
Great socks Kim! Time I knitted a few more pairs too.
It’s never a bad project – and so portable!
I love knitting socks on holiday.
No, it’s not just you. I get sudden sock urges, too. And I’m glad you understand about fancy stitches. One of my knitting friends thinks it’s a waste of time to do fancy stitches when most of the sock is hidden under shoes and pant legs, but I think she is completely wrong, and if that’s the case, why does she do so many plain socks in vivid colors? Answer me that!
The fancy stitches in socks are the same as wearing nice undies π
Although I can’t knit them, I do enjoy purchasing fancier socks when I can find them, so understand very well! π
Fancy socks are good!
